July 2011
It was not as exhotic as some of the other places I've been, but it was still an adventure. I had been trying to decide what to do with some of the time I was to spend on the ilsand that I didn't spend with and help family. To some extent, the weather was also a factor to the negative, with wind and rain being a regular problem. In any event, I was dropped off at Jacques Cartier Provincial Park, and the next morning cycled off to Alberton to buy some food, then put my kayak in the water. From there on, it was sand islands, heavy wind, shallow water, clouds of mosquitos following me for hours on my kayak, a strong storm trying to topple my tent, cycling and struggling with an overloaded MTB, a broken pedal, nearly a totalled Nikon D300 thanks to a leak from a bottle in my tent, a lost cup, drenched clothes, sleeping bag, a few pleasant and intertesting people along the way remarking on my method of travel, and basically a good time. I am a masochist ;-)
