May2011
I consider it an adventure, even if it is merely in my neighbourhood. I have a bike and kayak which are both collapsible and I was waiting this spring to go out on a camping adventure with them. The weather has not at all cooperated this spring with all the rain and bad weather warnings. This past weekend, I decided to pass on the camping for this weekend and yet still go out and do my own personal Iron-Man. The year before, I paddled past a boat from which a couple said I was doing something similar. I think it's a bit of an exaggeration, but this trek is still my own personal challenge.
It was a round trip of about six-and-a-half hours, with a lunch and drink break between, cycling out to Shirley's Bay, putting my kayak in and then paddling up to my take-out. It hurt, and the mosquitos at the end of my trek were wicked. In fact, nearly a week after, I am still feeling the effects of those "blighters," and it's to an extent I've not felt before. All in the adventure, I guess.
I'm not completely happy with these images, but I'll have some more chances to add to this page this summer, I think.
