Of choices and chances, lets see - do I turn left, right, go straight ahead, or turn around and find a different route! I've always been a bit of a geek, and looking back it seems that I thought I was being smart by taking the faster route and aiming for the highway on-ramp. Dang it all, I'd always hit those gravel side-roads instead. Rather bumpy and "potholey" they are, and they'll take one on so many detours. Not only that but the stones with their bearing-like tendencies at certain speeds do force you to slow down and the drive ends up taking so much longer. Eventually though, you realize that, "dang it all, this isn't so bad," and you wax poetically, hence my moniker, and may even be tempted to write down your illuminated thoughts for posterity; I'll spare you my clumsy prose. The geek I was should have realized all this right at the start, but I guess I wasn't too bright a geek and it took a bit. Anyway, while driving, you roll down the window and stick out your arm to feel the rushing air. If you could you'd stick out your nose like a pooch, but that can get a bit tricky while driving and you'd also need to pick the bugs out from between your teeth since you'd be hanging there with a massive grin just like that pooch. You're finally taking the time to look around to realize there's lots to see and d'oh!... was that a kayak put-in! Sorry-gotta-run-bye... |
